Alma's 1000 mile challenge - Last Day!

I arrived yesterday lunchtime had to spend a day in Barcelona waiting for next available ferry. Last couple of days were bit of an adventure. The map riding the mountains was tough. Such an amazing feeling crossing the French/Spanish border.

The map I had had a stretch of dual carriage way when I got to this point it had been changed to motorway restrictions this lead to a very large detour and meant I couldn't get night ferry that night and had to wait a day in Barcelona (what a shame smile emoticon ) then the ferry from hell not to be recommended. Then amazing ride to the apartment it felt soooooo good now for proper holiday time x

Alma's 1000 Mile Challenge - Day 7

What a day it was amazing coming out of Toulouse so many people either running or cycling the most I have seen without it being an event then as I continued along the canal du midi the nice paved cycle way changed to an off road affair a bit like going round bewl water then the thunderstorm came then the flat tyre, this was all made good when I got to see another otter x still smiling though x

Carers coffee morning for Carers Week

Last Wednesday we had our first 'Carers' Coffee morning celebrating carers week in Hospice Day Service. Three female carers enjoyed a morning of coffee and cake with three carer support volunteers sharing ideas and struggles they face in their role as carer. A time of sharing and laughter, time out of the home environment meeting new people and spending time with others in a similar situation bringing comfort to their lives.

We have just run the first set of Carer Support Workshops which have run over the past 4 weeks offering advice and support in respect of Health and Wellbeing, The importance of self-care, Moving and Handling, Hand massage and Carer support benefit advice. These were all directed at 'the carer' and will continue to support all carers who would like to access support. Future events have been arranged and the dates are available on our website or from Louise Latham - Carer Support co-ordinator.

Please get in contact if you wish to know more or know who someone who may benefit from this service.
